Goofs:
Continuity: Marlowe pulls up to Nurse Dalton/Helen Berwin's house. There's a large window to the right, a short stretch of wall in the middle and the door to the left. When he enters, there's solid wall on the interior where the window should be. There is a window about 25' from the door (much further than on the outside) but it's a higher, different style window on the inside, not the Craftsman style shown on the exterior. Also, when he knocks on the door, it's a flat (no panel) door. In the close-up after Marlowe knocks, showing Helen opening the door, it's a four-paneled door. moreQuotes:
Philip Marlowe: Hollywood is the kind of town where they stick a knife in your back and then have you arrested for carrying a concealed weapon.Philip Marlowe: Usually it's so quiet in Beverly Hills you can hear the scratch of a fountain pen on a movie contract three mansions away.
Philip Marlowe: Suddenly I felt like I was taking a trip down a sewer in a glass-bottom boat.
