A Star is Dulled
JordanThomasHall11 January 2019
Peter talks Mary into enrolling their daughter Leslie at Oakdell Academy of Theatre Arts. Her teacher Professor Gustav Vernoff (Leo Fuchs) says he will try her in different areas to see her best talent. However, she struggles dancing, singing, and acting, and he returns the deposit for classes. Leslie's grammar school is putting on a play for the community and gave the leading part to Leslie after she told her teacher her parents were entertainers. Mary has Peter volunteer to direct the play to work to hid Leslie's lack of talent. He cuts down her lines, which subsequently cuts out some of the other children's parts, to the anger of their parents. When their utilities are cut (by parents over the respective departments) Peter is forced to return the script to its original form- ever fearful of Leslie's performance. A change of heart may come from an unexpected source, however.
