PETER GUNN Kill from Nowhere 1959 This is episode 35 from the 1958 to 61 P.I. series, PETER GUNN. Craig Stevens headlines as the hard as nails detective who always dresses with style. Regulars in the series are Hope Emerson as the owner of MOTHER'S jazz club. Lola Albright plays Stevens' squeeze Edie Hart, who is the club singer at, MOTHER'S.
Stevens is called in for a talk with a lawyer about one of the lawyer's clients. The wheel chair bound client, Mary A. Hokanson has just been shot and is in hospital. The main suspect is her male nurse, Wesley Lau. His gun had been found at the scene. Lau had also taken off before the police could talk with him.
Stevens has a few words with Hokanson at the hospital. She tells Stevens that Lau is being framed. Stevens agrees to look into the matter.
It turns out that Lau had just been put into Hokanson's will. This of course does not work in Lau's favour as far as the Police are concerned. Using his collection of snitches, Stevens soon finds Lau hiding in a fleabag mission.
Lau manages to get away again and leads Stevens on a merry chase cross town. It turns out that Lau was innocent. It was Lau's ex-wife, Cece Whitney and her lover, Tom Holland who had shot Hokanson. Needless to say Whitney and Holland are not inclined to come peaceably. Holland goes for a deep six and Whitney gets roughed up by the ex.
Not the best episode, but still a great way to kill half an hour.
