Storyline

The Persuaders are called in to assist the Grand Duchess Ozerov, an elderly Russian former aristocrat. There is contention as to the rightful owner of her jewels, kept in a Swiss bank. The Russian government is one claimant and her nephew Sergei another, in addition to the duchess herself. Brett and Danny are to go to the Russian village where there is proof of her marriage to Prince Ozerov and, consequently, her right to own the jewels. However two men in the pay of Sergei are out to stop them. Written by don @ minifie-1

Quotes

Lord Brett Sinclair: [as the burly bodyguard enters] Did you ring for room service?
Danny Wilde: Not me.
Lord Brett Sinclair: [smiling as he notices the mysterious robed young blond girl, then addressing her] May I say that uninvited visitors have never been more...

Danny Wilde: We would have killed him.
Princess Alexandra: [regarding them coolly, then speaking out imperiously] I wish to identify you.

One of the strongest episodes in the series
7 January 2017 | by (Germany) – See all my reviews

This episode has a great plot and great characters (and actors). It is

  • on the whole - a very convincing whodunnit, something you cannot say

about some of the other episodes. Maybe it is because of the mystery and the intrigue that the levity seems to come a bit short in this episode. The interactions between Brett and Daniel are a bit infrequent and toned down.

Gladys Cooper does an outstanding job as the Grand-Duchess - a role which would prove to be her last. The other actors in this episode are also doing a good job, even if some of them have to deal with characters that seem to be written a tad larger-than-life.

This is definitely one of the show's strongest episodes - for me it ranks in the top 4.
