Della tells Paul that the information he is giving Perry sounds like the plot to an old late movie. Paul says that he is not paid to write the story, but only to report "just the facts, ma'am." The phrase "Just the facts, ma'am" was a signature line of Sergeant Joe Friday of Dragnet (1951), both on radio and in the 1950s TV series starring Jack Webb. The line was also parodied as "Just the fax, ma'am" in the Bruce Willis movie Die Hard (1988).
The last of five appearances by John Hoyt; the others are The Case of the Prodigal Parent (1958), The Case of the Curious Bride (1958), The Case of the Resolute Reformer (1961), and The Case of the Libelous Locket (1963).
Fourth and final appearance of Marie Windsor in the series; she previously was in The Case of the Daring Decoy (1958), The Case of the Madcap Modiste (1960), and The Case of the Tarnished Trademark (1962).
Last of two appearances by Michael Pate, who is murdered both times; the other is The Case of the Skeleton's Closet (1963).
