- [Harry rings the buzzer at an apartment's door]
- Elaine Pitkin: Who is it?
- [pause]
- Elaine Pitkin: Who is it!
- Harry Pitkin: You know who it is. Harry.
- [Elaine opens the door]
- Harry Pitkin: [entering room] You forgot to say "come in," Elaine. That's bad manners.
- Elaine Pitkin: When you die, Harry, I know exactly who'll be at your funeral. You.
- Harry Pitkin: [chuckles] Well, I guess I never did win any popularity contests.
- Perry Mason: [Door to apartment 208 opens in response to his buzz] May I come in?
- Elaine Barton Pitkin: [Opening door to admit Mason] If you'll forgive the way I look. I'm not used to having famous lawyers turn up in my apartment at this hour.
- Lt. Tragg: [while taking a gun away from a man who was set up] You don't think we'd be silly enough to load it? No; fella could hurt himself this way.
- Stephen Argyle: I've done nothing I'm ashamed of.
- Perry Mason: You're very fortunate, Mr. Argyle, most people have a conscience.
- Stephen Argyle: [after finding out that she was in love with a murder victim] I'm sorry for you, Sheila.
- Sheila Cromwell: And I'm sorry for you; I'm going to kill you.
