Mark and Jeremy's old friend Merry, who doesn't seem to be in the best state of mind, gives Jeremy and Super Hans ownership of a pub, and Super Hans has some very radical ideas about how to run it. When Mark and Jez are at Mary's flat and she's beginning to show signs of a mental breakdown, Mary tells Mark, "My bone's got a little machine." This line is taken from the song "Bone Machine" by the alternative rock band the Pixies, which opens their 1988 album "Surfer Rosa." See more
When Mark phones Sophie, a POV shot moves from the floor to his reflection in the mirror, but as the camera moves, the whole image of Mark looking straight into the mirror moves up with it, this is not what it would look like in reality (he'd see himself turning his head). Also, as he looks into the mirror the "reflection" moves around of staying still. This happens again when he goes and looks in the bathroom mirror while on the phone to Sophie. See more
Incredible, still no call from Soph. If she's broken up with me, maybe I suppose I could consider Merry. It would sort of suit me to have a girlfriend in an institution. Regulated meeting times. I might get to have a say in her medication. I'd like to be able to chemically alter my girlfriend's moods.
