Patty and her rival Sue Ellen are campaigning against one another for prom chairman. Sue Ellen seemingly swings the votes when she uses her father's prominence to promise a celebrity performer to appear. Patty counters her father's prominence to secure an even bigger celebrity. The prom committee sets the following day to name the chairman. While Patty is listening to pop sensation Bertram "Binky" "The Mop" Bristol (Jack Kenny), Cathy recognizes the album cover to be a boy she went to school with in England. Patty is elected prom chairman when she says she can deliver "Binky". When Cathy refuses to go speak with him, Patty goes pretending to be Cathy. She tricks him into appearing, but the trick risks repercussions.
