Strange Bedfellows (#2.14)

Warning: Spoilers
Will has a girlfriend Gina. Sarah and Bailey don't want to hang out with them because she talks too much, Will ends up breaking up with her but then regrets it and goes back to her. Justin's mother finds out Julia and Justin are having sex and tries to stop them so nothing happens. Turns out she is pregnant herself. This makes Justin confront his father about cheating. Claudia is caught smoking by Ms Shrader and when she talks to Charlie they start dating. Claudia is first against it.

I liked the story about Will's girlfriend. It is nice to see him happy. And she doesn't seem that bad. I liked him confronting Bailey. And what I liked even more is Bailey's speech about elementary particles. This was a nice friendship moment.

Claudia's story was fun again. Emily is a pretty fun character. And I enjoyed some scenes from it. Like Claudia warning her about Charlie's bad dating habits. And especially when they got a pop quiz and Claudia realizes that she might have made a mistake by forcing them to stop seeing each other because as Jody says Ms Shrader really needs it.

The story and Justin and Julia was also nice. I liked Mrs Thompson's involvement in it. One sees that her own bad timing pregnancy makes her even more worried.

Claudia, the wisest of the family

Warning: Spoilers
Because Claudia didn't suffered enough in the last episodes, now the writers decided to put together her math teacher Emily and Charlie. Obviously Claudia tries to stop it, threatening to smoke cigars if he doesn't behave like a good father, but all turns out bad. Emily, who searched Charlie at the restaurant, then makes Claudia and Jody miserable in class because she can't date her brother. Although Claudia warned both of them, the adults are idiots and do what they want. She is cornered and now can't stop it or she will fail maths. Poor Claudia.

Bailey proves to be a bad friend by rejecting Will's girlfriend, Gina because she talks too much. But for once, Will can impose himself and tells the truth: Bailey has always any girl he wants and doesn't let Will be happy. So at the end, Bailey and Sarah accepts Will dating Gina.

Meanwhile, Mrs Thompson discovers her son and Julia are having sex (both are 16) and tries to stop it, but Justin is too stubborn and let his hormones fly free. Julia seems to want to stop but she doesn't. Charlie is not happy with it but doesn't help Mrs Thompson (and since the failed wedding he lost all kind of authority). Also the marriage of Justin's parents is safe now and they are having a baby. Interesting fact: Helene gave a hard time to Diana Salinger when she got pregnant with Owen, and now the same thing happen to her.

Overall, the episode is a low point in season 2, all the Salingers are being selfish and immature excepts for the almost always brilliant Claudia. Besides, Owen is mostly absent again.

Warning: Spoilers
I can understand why Bailey didn't like Will's new girlfriend mostly because she has alot of Jill vibes to her, and just how out there she is in many ways can clearly rub people the wrong way, and Bailey didn't really tell Will that he shouldn't date her, just that they don't like being around her, due to her demeanor, but I get why Will holds resentment towards Bailey given he took Sarah from her, at the end of the episode Bailey decides to own up to the idea that he has no right to judge anyone else over who they date, and allows Will to continue to date her.

The Justin/Julia storyline already annoys me and there still bringing up his dad cheating on his wife come on, luckily they didn't bore the audience by having him decide wheter he should tell the truth or not it's just nope he told the truth and now she's pregnant with another child, still Justin's first reaction to this revelation is to be an ass to his parents, seriously what does Julia see in this guy?, tho I get why his mom doesn't want them having sex he is clearly concerned for both of them, and who would blame her tbh.

As for the Charlie storyline didn't seem to care and seemed like just an excuse for Claudia to act like an obnoxious brat for the whole episode, I'm telling you if she was smoking cigarettes in front of my face all because she's upset I'm dating her teacher I would rip that cigarette out of her mouth and washed her tongue with soap, but it is the double standard he tends to use towards both Julia & Claudia, he's fine with Julia having unprotected sex with Justin, but horrified with Claudia smoking cigarettes, as for the teacher stuff I can't see Charlie being truly interested in her until Claudia assumed that's what's going on, and I just am getting sick of how fast Charlie moves on from woman to woman almost as much as Claudia, but still she does need to respect the guy who could call child services on her at any second, and even Charlie is starting to get sick of her antics, we know he won't do anything about it, but Claudia's friend did convince her to stop being a brat and let Charlie date her teacher, so that seemed generous of her.

Overall not my favorite episode and this episode really is about passing judgment on others.
