Bert Freed and Lurene Tuttle

"For Sale by Owner" ponders the unthinkable, that the Partridges would up and leave the home they all grew up in for a place that has more than one bathroom (Danny's creativity in the tub often lasting for hours). Reuben offers to sell the old homestead himself, saving them the commission, after first putting in an offer for their new home. After more than a week without any prospective buyers, Mr. and Mrs. Sharp sign the papers to buy the Partridge house, by which time Shirley and the kids find themselves heartbroken at the prospect of actually moving; on top of that, their new home also becomes unavailable, leaving them scrambling to convince the Sharps that the place is running down (everything ends happily as expected). Mr. Sharp is played by veteran Bert Freed, TV's original Columbo, while Mrs. Bea Sharp (get it?) is played by Lurene Tuttle, perhaps best remembered as Sheriff John McIntire's wife in Hitchcock's "Psycho." Watch for brief appearances from Gordon Jump (7 episodes) and Shirley's old friend Sari Price (her third of four episodes). This episode's song is the pleasant ballad "As Long as You're There," composed by Adam Miller, and featured on sixth LP NOTEBOOK (issued Nov 1972).
