Alan Bursky and Gino Conforti
30 March 2014 | by (Youngstown,Ohio) – See all my reviews

"Al in the Family" served as another episode trying out new talent (minus Ricky Segall, who only appeared once more), in this case stand up comedian Alan Bursky, cast as Alan Kincaid, Reuben's hapless nephew, trying to learn the ropes about managing from guess who. Regarding himself as a lifelong failure, Alan uses his faults as surefire laugh material, but remains too shy to perform in front of a crowd. Put to the managerial test when Reuben must go out of town, Alan serves the Partridges very well, until he loses the little notebook with their entire schedule written down. Reuben confides that he doesn't doubt his nephew's comic abilities: "I have FEARS Shirley!" Making his third and final appearance, Gino Conforti has a funny bit as a Maitre D' that doesn't have a table for anyone...without a reservation. Previously heard in "Beethoven, Brahms and Partridge" is their cover of Goffin-King's "I'm Into Something Good" (unreleased on record), plus "That's the Way It Is With You," composed by Harriet Schoch, from eighth LP BULLETIN BOARD.
