Storyline

When a stagecoach is held up, the outlaws fail to see that one passenger hid a valuable pendant, linked to a chain, on the ground beneath one of the stagecoach's horses. The stone becomes embedded in one of the horses' hooves and nobody notices. A search is on by various parties to find the stone. It passes from person to person, but always by accident and never to anyone looking for it. It also turns out to be anything but a fortune stone, leading to more than one death and even unhinging one character's fragile mind.
