Storyline

Brav and Shal are a young couple living in a small community where they and others are cared for by an alien they call Mother. They know little of the world around them and in fact an electronic barrier keeps all within the confines of their small village. When Shal gives birth to a boy, most of the villagers have no idea what has happened or what the baby is. Mother takes Shal and the baby away but Shal is returned alone a few days later. She desperately wants to have the child back and she and Brav set off to reclaim the boy. They will face danger along the way and learn something of their heritage before coming face to face with Mother, who explains all. Written by garykmcd

The Mother of Us All

Sometimes these offerings get a little bit maudlin. This may be one of them. Still, we root for the confused characters as they make their way through a living hell. The story begins with the birth of a baby two a couple of young adults, living in a kind of commune, presided over by an alien "Mother." When the child is born, there is utter confusion. The new mother, with the child, are taken to the "obelisk." The baby is left in the care of other aliens and the mother returned. She implores her young partner to go on a search mission to retrieve the child. They manage to disengage the force field and head off through the woods. In the woods are horrible snakes with lamprey heads that bite and leave a kind of stinger that moves through the body. The girl is bitten but her young associate manages to cut out the invading stinger. She limps her way and they finally get to the obelisk (which appears to be a lighthouse) and set out to capture the baby. What ensues is a very satisfying conclusion, explaining why things have evolved the way they have. It's quite a creative effort.
