Another Clever Alien Plan
2 October 2014 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

A tent show minister, played by the every weird Gary Busey, has a good thing going. He earns a decent living selling his snake oil to rubes who donate at the end of the show. His daughter helps him, using surveillance cameras and advising him through an ear piece. Everything is under control until a man in a wheel chair (not part of the planned show) comes forward and is "healed" by Busey. After the show, the young man, accompanied by his mother, offers himself as a student to Busey and tells him that he can make him huge amounts of money. At first things go well. He is able to levitate and put on a great show. But eventually, he becomes the star; the one they come to see. We also are treated to the fact that this guy and his mother are aliens. They are out to draw in the world to embrace violence in the name of the "one" truth. Busey, who has been a charlatan, is truly religious but feels God has turned his back on him (the death of his wife). He now feels he can redeem himself by putting an end to this dangerous being. As is usually the case with "The Outer Limits," there are some twists along the way. I found it really uncomfortable watching this, but it fits the formula well.
