What Are the Rules?
Hitchcoc2 June 2014
Robert Guillaume leads a group of psychics who the gift of telekinesis. They have been picked because he either has something on them or they have a vulnerable person in their lives. They have the task of killing evil dictators and terrorists by, as a unit, causing heart attacks or other deadly events. They are an odd mix of people. They are incredibly unfeeling and proud of their role, except for a pretty young woman whose brother, a two time felon, is being used as a means of extortion. The government is using her fear of what they will do to him to get her to act against her will. This is a really good setup. But now everything becomes a jumbled mess. A creature from their ids (or whatever-- remember "Forbidden Planet") has come to life and they can't control it. Guillaume is nuts and has something to do with this. The handsome Harry Hamlin is in the middle of this somewhere. He has become enchanted with the young woman, but what's going on with him. When this was over, I was scratching my head. I never understood where the threat originated. You have to set up some rules for your audience or we don't know where to direct our attention. It's as if they could never figure out what to do.

Unleash the monster

Warning: Spoilers
I don't understand the last review on this episode, so I'll review it as well.

We have a team of people recruited by the pentagon to experiment on telekinesis using an enhancement machine. After an initial success they discover that the goal of this experiment is to kill targets that represent a 'threat' to USA. Some characters find it right, some others are against it, but they're forced to do it anyway. After using their powers a few times, tensions arise and suddenly they are attacked by a monster apparently made of energy. Where is this monster coming from ? well, from the unconscious mind of one of the team members, but as usual with this series it might not be the one you think.

While it is not among the best episodes, in my opinion, it has a classic and enjoyable plot. At first we would expect that the woman would awaken to her powers and gradually master them, while straining her whole body, and finally use that power against the team leader, who was forcing her to kill against her will. In the end, the episode is taking another turn. Basically the question is: what happens if we try of use the power of our mind if we are not at peace with ourselves ?
