Storyline

Del buys a consignment of blow-up sex dolls to sell on to elderly Dirty Barry, who has a sex shop. Unfortunately the dolls are filled with propane gas and will explode if they are exposed to heat. When two of the dolls self-inflate in the flat Del dresses them in his late mother's clothes to get them into the van but when he arrives at his destination Dirty Barry is unable to oblige as his licence has been revoked by the council. More dolls begin to inflate ominously and there's nothing Del and Rodney can do but run for it. Written by don @ minifie-1

Trivia

The first episode of Only Fools and Horses.... (1981) to attract controversy because of blowup dolls in a family show. They were bought from a sex shop in Soho by the show's props buyer. The show was accused of overstepping the mark for the first time, and parents complained to the BBC about how they were supposed to explain to their children what the dolls were used for. David Jason thought it an overreaction since the dolls were clothed. See more »

Quotes

Rodney: [they've just bought boxes of dolls and Rodney is reading the item description] Del, these dolls aren't called Barbie or Sindy. These dolls are called Lusty Linda and Erotic Estelle.
Del Boy: You can't get dolls with names like that.
Rodney: You can if you go to the right shops, Del!

Brilliant
11 June 2017 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

No matter how many times I see this episode of the beloved British comedy 'Only Fools and Horses' it never fails to make me laugh.

Fondly known by many I'm sure as 'The Blow Up Dolls' episode, this is classic comedy, that features an excellent script from the much missed John Sullivan, and is expertly performed by David Jason and Nicholas Lyndurst.

From brilliant lines, to great physical and visual comedy, this is a excellent episode from the show when it was at the peak of its powers.

I can only highly recommend that you watch it, because if anything deserves a 10 it's this.
