Victor and Margaret are looking forward to their holiday in Athens less and less when Mrs Warboys comes to tea. Victor can't get rid of a hat and Mrs Warboys is very ill after having boiled alligator eggs for breakfast. Matters aren't helped when a large snake escapes from the local pet shop. After noticing the carpet is dirty, Victor goes to the kitchen and makes a carpet cleaning solution in a glass of water. While he has it for most of the scene, the contents of the glass is white and cloudy. but when he goes to the door to greet the Oxfam lady, the contents of the glass is clear water. After Margaret sees to her friend, she goes to see if Victor has given the Oxfam lady the box of items, and the glass is once again full of cloudy white liquid for the remainder of the scene. Margaret Meldrew: Oh, comes and goes when it thinks it will, you know. One minute I'm fine and the next minute... unh.
Margaret Meldrew: Violently sick.
Mrs. Warboys: Umh. This is nice; what is it?
Margaret Meldrew: Well, I got the recipe from my- Oh, how was it?
Victor Meldrew: Yes, very nice, very nice with my grey coat.
Margaret Meldrew: Try it more at an angle. You've got it jammed on there like an aerosol cap. You need it more to one side.
