Episode cast overview:
Dwayne F. Schneider (as Pat Harrington)
Dr. Paul Curran

Blaming Ann for allowing the relationship between Julie and Paul to develop, Ed arrives to convince his daughter that she's making a big mistake. However, he soon realizes that all of his arguments have been covered to no avail by Ann. Debating the issue, Julie gets Ed to admit that his marriage to Ann didn't fail because of their age difference. Paul arrives for a tennis date with Julie and meets Ed, who can barely contain his hostility. Ann invites Paul to a family dinner. Later, Ann realizes that Julie will be 18 in two months, and it would be better to gain an old son than lose a young daughter. During the family dinner, Ed and Paul attempt to bond, but Ed eventually loses his cool. Paul forcefully defends his love for Julie, as the bickering drives her out of the apartment. Paul goes after Julie, who has a remarkably mature assessment of their future together. Written by Skip Eastport
