The title is from the musical 'I Do! I Do!' with a book and lyrics by Tom Jones and music by Harvey Schmidt based on the Jan de Hartog play The Fourposter. The original Broadway production of "I Do! I Do!" opened at the 46th Street Theater on December 5, 1966 with Mary Martin and Robert Preston, ran for 560 performances and was nominated for the 1967 Tony Awards for the Best Musical and Score.
