Funnier than the 1969 episode "Family Flu"
19 November 2007 | by (Manchester) – See all my reviews

Another great episode from the excellent fifth series of On the Buses.

There is a massive flu outbreak, meaning Stan and Jack are getting loads of overtime. They are getting needles to stop them from catching it. Stan gets worried though when the family go down with the flu. He now sterilises everything they touch as he doesn't want it. Blakey then catches the flu. Stan and Jack chat these lovely girls up and they go out for a night out. With the money Stan and Jack are on, they are treating the girls to oysters. But as things can't be better, Stan catches the flu.

Cheryl Hall played one of the girls Stan and Jack took out. She played Shirley in one of the two sitcoms that is better than "On the Buses" "Citizen Smith" This was the second Buses episode about flu. The first being "Family Flu" which was the first episode of the second series. This was quite the same, but much funnier. The whole family get the flu, Stan thinks he's avoided it and then bang, at the last minute, he suddenly catches it.

Best Bit: BLAKEY: Oh gawd, another bus company gone down with flu, that means I'll have to give you two more overtime, JACK: What's wrong with that then, BLAKEY: You're the most lazy, argumentative pair in the whole depot and your getting more money than me.
