Goofs

Though this episode--which takes place in 'current' time (I.e., the early 1970s), Oscar's "new" girlfriend Mitzi--who's this episode's "MacGuffin", was actually introduced in the second-season episode, "Speak For Yourself", which takes place in the early 1950s, where Oscar introduces Felix to Mitzi--played by the same actress, Ronda Copland, and portrayed in the exact same manner. My Daughter asked My Father what he thought of me a child. My Father could of said many things about me that were unflattering as unruly , undisciplined and average at best. My father's reply was completely unexpected. My Father simply said that he just didn't understand me? This reminds me of the Neil Simon sit-com of the early 70's "The Odd Couple" starring Jack Klugman as Oscar the sloppy, divorced sports writer and his roommate Felix Unger who is a divorced photographer with a penchant for neatness. This episode, Oscar is invited to appear on the game show PASSWORD as a celebrity contestant. Felix begs Oscar to appear on the show as his partner. An over confident Felix Unger who feels he's a grand master at the game of Password yet his roommate Oscar doesn't understand the outrageous clues Felix is throwing at him. Felix's clues are non-comprehensible using abstract and archaic terms for the matching word as you'll see in this episode. For those who are "NOT" familiar with the game Password I'll simply explain the rules. Password is divided into two teams, each composed of a celebrity player and a contestant. The set is basically a dais with the host standing in the middle One of members of the team depending on the round is given a word by the host. The Television audience sees the word below with a soft voice by the booth announcer clearly pronouncing the word. Depending on the word, the teams can pass or play. The teams start by giving one-word clues and only one word clues. To make this episode authentic Producer Gary Marshall cast the synonymous host Allen Ludden as himself to run the revelry. Ludden's actual Wife Betty White also stars as the rival celebrity against the team of Oscar and Felix. An interesting contest is about to happen as we learn that Abraham Lincoln loved mayonnaise and lead pencils are made with graphite. This episode is the most popular Odd Couple episode ever by fans of the series. What's to understand?
