Storyline

When his mother disappears and faced with the prospect of life in a group home, Ryan decides to run away from Newport, but Seth and Marissa convince him to stay and hide in a vacant building project. Meanwhile, Jimmy discusses his recent financial woes with Kirsten, and she offers a solution. After the jealous Luke witnesses a close encounter between Marissa and Ryan, he confronts Ryan and a fight breaks loose in the house where their quarrel accidentally starts a fire. Ryan nearly dies in the flames, until surprisingly Luke returns and saves Ryan's life, which unfortunately reveals Ryan's continuing presence in Newport leading to both him and Luke getting arrested for arson. Goofs

When Jimmy Cooper is talking about the ESPN Classic game he is watching to his wife, Julie, he claims that it is the 1986 NBA Finals Game 7, Lakers vs. Pistons. The audio says 1986, but his lips say 1988. His lips say the correct date, as the 1986 NBA Finals pitted the Boston Celtics against the Houston Rockets, and only went six games. See more »

Quotes

Seth: Dad, I'm sure Ryan's fine. We should just try again when it's light out.
Sandy: Could be too late by then.
Seth: Yeah, well, maybe he's better off on his own, anyways.
Sandy: What does that mean?
Seth: Okay, if we find him, then what? Then, if he's very lucky he gets to go back with his mom? I would run away, too.

Good friends, amazing life.
6 April 2010 | by (Canada) – See all my reviews

In The Model Home, Ryan is taken to Seth's housing developments in an option to keep Ryan around but so that he doesn't have to lose his best friend. Marissa catches wind of their plan and tags along. It's really a great friendship episode as we can watch Seth belittle Marissa but still show compassion for her in the end.

Ryan is developed and we learn a little more about Marissa and Jimmy. We are revealed about Jimmy's secret and Marissa and Ryan begin to connect on a romantic level, while Seth still pines over Summer. Kirsten is trying to understand Sandy's need to play Dad for Ryan. It's got a lot of emotion in the episode, mixed with unanticipated amounts of dangerous drama.
