Storyline

Kirsten's outgoing and spoiled younger sister Hailey Nichol, notorious for not doing anything with her life, returns home and asks to stay for New Year's Eve. Although getting along fine with everyone, she shows her true colors when she throws a destructive New Year's Eve party at the house when Sandy and Kristen are out and locks both Ryan and Seth in the guest house. Meanwhile, Sandy and Kirsten get lost while traveling to a restaurant for dinner, and, thinking they're in a rut, find themselves out of their environment at a swingers house party. The mysterious Oliver Trask, a charming young teenager Marissa met in her therapist's waiting room, takes advantage of a mild quarrel between her and Ryan to cast his spell on her and invite her and her friends to his New Year's Eve party at his parents' posh penthouse. Also there in attendance are Summer and Anna who talk about Seth and decide to find him to make him choose which one of them he wants to be with. Written by Jim

At the swingers party, it is Taryn's turn to pull a watch. In the shot where she sticks her hand in the bowl, you can clearly see that she pulls a gold watch. The next shot she's seen pulling a totally different watch. See more »

Quotes

Marissa Cooper: [speaking to Ryan, played by Benjamin McKenzie who at this time was often described as looking like a young Russell Crowe] I dunno. Russell Crowe? He just doesn't do anything for me. I mean people say he's good looking. But I don't see it.

Marrisa: I love you Ryan: Thank you
9 March 2008 | by (Romania) – See all my reviews

It's New Year's and "love" is in the air. Kirsten's sister, Hailey Nichol returns home, and throws a party. Oliver casts his spell. Sandy and Kirsten find themselves in a rut, and out of their environment. Seth finally makes a decision between Summer and Anna. 2004 is born. Marissa and Ryan have some difficulties in expressing their feelings.

In this episode, we are introduced to Hailey, she didn't really seemed to be a good character, but she's one of the cutest in the show.

Seth chooses Anna, and that's mostly because she came to him. Samaire Armstrong is a really fun actress, (except her hair) bu her character is annoying at times.
