Trivia

"Mensch" is a German noun meaning a "human". In Yiddish, "mensch" roughly means "a good person." It means a particularly good person, like a stand-up guy. (Sandy: That's 'cause, Ryan Atwood ... you're a mensch. And after tonight, I'm gonna tell you what that means.) See more »

Goofs

The gang wants to throw an honorary bar mitzvah for Ryan to raise money for Johnny's knee surgery. But the proceeds from Johnny suing the person that ran him over should have covered his surgery. See more »

Quotes

Seth: No wait, listen to me. This wouldn't be just an ordinary bar mitzvah, you know what this would be? Wait for it... wait... A Chrismuckkah Bar mitzvahkkah. Spell that dude!
Ryan: That's crazy.
Seth: Yeah? So crazy that it just might work.
Marissa: So we throw a big party...
Summer: And Ryan gets the money from the bar mitzvah?
Marissa: And then we can spend the money for Johnny's surgery.
Ryan: How's this going to work? Am I just gonna stand in front of Newport and sing in Hebrew?
Seth: You chant, and hell yes.

The Chrismukkah Bar Mitz-vahkkah (#3.10)
19 September 2014 | by (Canada) – See all my reviews

It is Chrismukkah time again and they find out that Johnny can't afford the surgery. So as good friends they want to throw a charity party as Ryan Bar Mitzvah and collect surgery money this way. But Johnny is too proud. They still decide to go through with the event, although Ryan has some second thoughts since Johnny is in love with Marissa But he then does it anyways as it is his time to become a man and also stops Johnny from doing something stupid out of pride.

Another great Chrismukkah episode. Seth is so cute with his enthusiasm about it. And it is pretty cool how they help Johnny. Ryan was pretty awesome in this episode. Yeah they always make him the "hero" but he didn't irritate me this time, had more humanity and heart about him, I guess when it came to the fact that he was struggling with the idea to help Johnny.
