A bubble suddenly appears in the desert. Through the front of the bubble, one can see a bucolic landscape and a farm family from a past era. The Army is trying to figure a way to break through the bubble's skin, to no avail. Bill Pullman plays a scientist who is brought in to figure out just what is going on, but he becomes obsessed with finding his way into this seemingly idyllic landscape. The episode echoes the "Last Stop, Willoughby" episode from the old TWILIGHT ZONE, but is done up in a sci-fi wrapping. Pullman is great as always, and it becomes apparent that his obsession will lead to his destruction. This episode is about as far-out as this series got, but the unpleasant ending is typical of the show.
