Dave finishes rehearsing his speech in front of Beth, Catherine, and the maintenance man. As Beth leaves the room, she says to Dave, "Well, Mr. President, you can't say that Dallas doesn't love you." Beth is quoting words spoken by the wife of the governor of Texas, Nellie Connally, to John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963. Kennedy and his advisers had not expected the enthusiastic, large crowds that appeared along the motorcade route in Dallas Texas. She spoke these words in the presidential limousine shortly before Kennedy was assassinated. [01.25.2020]
