Hotel California in Vermont
Hitchcoc23 March 2023
As two guests leave, they talk about spontaneity, going where the fates take them. Joanna criticizes Dick for never being spontanious. Eventually, to please her, he has her get in a car in the middle of the night and head off to who knows where. They have a series of mishaps which we don't see, and they end up in an awful motel in the middle of nowhere. This allows Dick to complain non-stop for hours, blaming Joanna for the whole thing. Dick plays the sarcastic foil to Joanna's efforts to brighten things up. But it's a disaster. In another plot (which is getting tiresome) Michael hits a mailbox with his sports car and Stephanie is embarrassed to ride the big red loaner truck. The schtick with those two doesn't ever change.

Dick tries to be spontaneous

Joanna tells Dick to try to be more spontaneous so he decides to take her on a road trip without knowing where they are going.

A good episode for Dick and Joanna, there is a small subplot about Michael having an accident with his sports car and forced to take a red truck as a loaner. Funniest scenes are the disasters Dick and Joanna are faced with, including a flat tire, getting soaked with mud and having to stay at a flea bag motel.
