Cracking episode.

Kingdom and Ward investigate an apparent motiveless killing, the murder of a retired bank manager, who's shot dead in his bed.

Very good, very good episode, I preferred this to the first episode. This was gritty and pretty nasty. The killings were nasty even by today's standards, the tone of the whole episode was bleak, and pretty menacing.

Well made, very well acted, Kenneth Cranham as you'd expect was great, but Betty Romaine, who played his poor mum, I thought she was lovely here, a definite victim, but trying to do her best by her wayward son.

What is it about mother's of monsters, they all have the same speech, he's a good boy. ..

At this stage, I think the dynamic between Kingdom and Ward is so interesting, there's clearly a bit of needle between the pair, not the usual pals together, these two have different methods, and different views. I'm still trying to work out Kingdom's character, a task master, but quite liberal it seems.

I'm really liking the character of Harry Carson, the journalist and brother in law of Kingdom, he's a great character.

Thought this was great, 9/10.
