The Phantom of the Country Music Hall
The New Scooby-Doo Movies (1972)
"The Phantom of the Country Music Hall"
Jerry Reed invites the gang to his grand opening but when they arrive there for the rehearsal the country star is no where to be found. The gang starts to investigate and wonder if his disappearance might have some connection to a bank robbery. The New Scooby-Doo Movies featured some very poorly written episodes but this one here is rather confusing because it doesn't make much sense and especially when you consider that not too much really happens. The entire thing just seems as if someone quit writing it and they just made up everything as they went along. The setting of the old country hall isn't all that entertaining and there's nothing especially good done with it. Even worse is the fact that the villains are without question the worse I've seen in any Scooby episode up to this point. I would even say the regular characters are poorly handled as none of them do anything interesting and we're just treated to things we've seen countless times before. Reed and that terrific voice are always fun to listen to but he doesn't appear enough here to really make an impact.
