Three men hit the road together in a station wagon and go to the countryside. They have foreseen a lost cabin in the woods as a shelter. Not for hunt, as we could expect ( as in OPEN SEASON, for instance)but for digging. Because of a loot buried here by a robber after a bank job, twenty years ago. Yes folks, there are three treasure hunters. So they find the dol hidden in old zinc cans. And that's where everything gets awry when bystanders, an old man and a young woman, drop by. The old man is killed by one of the three men - Keenen Wynn. And one of the three - Charles Bronson - prevents his friend to get rid of the girl. The witness girl. So they take her with them. But the Metropolitan Police force is warned of the young female disappearing and the search begins...
What's amusing here is seeing our leads of the series riding horses to get on the killing site, in the mountains.
The three treasure hunters hide of course in the old cabin with the witness gal, whilst the search begin all around. Including the helicopter which flies over it and without even seeing the cabin !!!
The big question the viewer asks to himself is HOW the three men were aware of the buried loot...But don't worry, folks, we soon find out. I won't spoil it any further if you are about to watch it yourself.
But just one last thing I wanted to say about Quinn Martin productions: I noted that they all have episodes with chapters within. Several parts for each story, and this for all series: UNTOUCHABLES, INVADERS, CANNON, THE BREED - this one - and I presume all the other ones such as THE FUGITIVE.
