Two young people in their late teens decide to run away from their folks. Especially the sixteen years old female who is through of his middle class family, who doesn't accept her boyfriend - played by a young Peter Fonda - and who doesn't accept the fact that the daughter is pregnant. So the teen girl steals the family jewelery and sells it to a rotten pawnbroker. Not really a crime story, as you have already understood, but a tale about another side of juvenile delinquency, and from middle class instead of poverty row. Also a scheme about feud that sometimes occur between parents and grown children. An awfully sad story.
