Sabotage on board
2 April 2013 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

A young man is shot to death just after notifying an insurance company that something is amiss aboard the Honolulu Star, a ship scheduled to leave port the following day. The young man's father, Mr. Kim, asks Charlie to find out who killed his son. The next day, Charlie boards the freighter as its only passenger. Charlie has dinner with the Captain and his very much younger wife and Engineer Flynn. The captain seems to be egging Flynn on. Flynn storms out and is later found dead in what may have been an accident. And soon after this, the ship is sabotaged and must be towed the 200 miles back to port. For a half hour mystery and the resulting too few suspects, this one was still good and I much like J. Caroll Naish as Chan even though Sidney Toler is my favorite Chan portrayer. Philip Ahn who played Mr. Kim did his usual good job in his brief appearance. Wouldn't it have been nice if in his long had he been given the chance to play Charlie Chan.
