Storyline

An agent of a foreign power enters the autopsy room via a clandestine and unconventional method; he then takes captive Ducky, Gerald, and, later, Kate. The intruder demands every bit of the evidence, including the blood, pertaining to the body of a terrorist who arrived late the previous night, and whom Gibbs had shot while capturing him at the Naval Amphibious Base at Little Creek in Norfolk; the intruder seeks to prevent the USA from discovering that his sponsor, using an infectious virus, contaminated the terrorist, who had begun working among the population aboard the base. The intruder eventually asks to see Gibbs, so Gibbs confronts him in the autopsy room; Gibbs and others regain control. Abby finally overcomes a fear. Written by DocRushing

Goofs

When Abby is wandering in front of the "NCIS MOST WANTED" gallery, a few pictures can be seen with red tape across, meaning that they'd been captured or killed. In the bottom row, the seventh picture from the left with no red tape, belongs to "Hasan Mohammed", the character of a terrorist killed in JAG season 8, episode 21 "Meltdown", the Beginning of NCIS. OK, first off, yes, I am writing this review quite a few years after the episode first aired, but when I realised no one else had written one I immediately thought something was wrong with that.

"Bete Noire" features a first for the NCIS team - a terrorist has infiltrated NCIS HQ in Washington via Autopsy. The terrorist (later named as Ari Haswari) has taken Ducky, Gerald and Kate hostage. The terrorist's demands are made and Gibbs, DiNozzo and Abby are left to deal.

This episode was amazing. Action, thrills, humour and a hell of a lot of suspense - the episode had everything. The standout of this episode, without a doubt, was the acting by guest star Rudolf Martin (Haswari). The charming, charismatic terrorist is as deadly as he is alluring. His eyes look kind...moments before he fires his gun. The character is just brilliantly portrayed and well written.

All in all, Bete Noire is without a doubt one of the best, if not THE best episode of NCIS. 10/10
