Fran goes for a sonogram. Fran wants to know the baby's gender, whereas Maxwell doesn't. To take her mind off the wait to hear about the baby's gender, Fran decides to accompany Brighton on his visits to colleges, much to his chagrin. At Harvard, Brighton ends up getting into a heated argument with other prospective students when they talk about Fran in a sexual way. Later, Brighton politely asks Fran not to accompany him on future college visits, but he refuses to tell her why. Hurt, she thinks she embarrassed him, probably by saying or doing something stupid. By chance, Fran manages to spend some quality time with Lynn Redgrave, who gives her a crash course in intelligence and class. However, Fran thinks it's a futile task. Brighton later admits to Fran the real reason he doesn't want her to come along, which is a big relief to her. Meanwhile, the sonogram reveals some unexpected information.
