Glenn Howard's wartime activities come under Congressional glare...
4 June 2011 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

Spoiler Alert !

A 'Gene Barry' Segment Episode.

Summond to Washington to testify before a powerful and influential Senate hearing looking into possible wrong doings during WW2... Wealthy Publisher Glenn Howard (Gene Barry) then finds himself under the spotlight and in the sights of a ruthless Senate Investigator apparently determined to nail Howard for both alleged corrupt and collaborative wartime activities in Italy during the height of the U.S. push in WW2.

Howard must act fast to both clear his name, save his reputation and Publishing empire, and establish just who was really the guilty party to satisfy the 'out for Blood' senate committee...and in the course of his enquiries Howard learns of both a long standing false accusation against him in Italy...and never to trust the closest of old friends.

Powerful performances by the strong Guest cast, notably Barry Sullivan (who later reprises his role as Senator Creston Collins in the season two 'Gene Barry' episode; 'High Card'), Fritz Weaver, and Edward Asner.

Plus some interesting alternating 'flashback' sequences to WW2 depicting various differing versions of the same scenes of past events showing the younger Glenn Howard as a brave / cowardly U.S. Army Officer in action, (we learn that he's really brave of course !), make this one of the most interesting Gene Barry segment episodes.
