Where's Georgie!
9 October 2012 | by (brooklyn NY) – See all my reviews

***SPOILERS*** On the lamb from both the law and Mafia professional hit-man Bordam, Keenan Wynn, needs hard cash and needs it fast to get a plane out of the country to Brazil when there's no expedition treaty with the US. With the NYPD hot on his tail as well as the mob Bordam check into this flea bag hotel in the old neighborhood and plans to get the cash he needs by getting local crap or dice shooter Georgie, Eli Wallack, to win it for him.

Holding Georgie hostage and being with him every minute of the day and night Bordam gets him into a number of gambling dens to use his talents, in shooting craps, to get him the bankroll he needs to make his escape. Running up a winning streak of $16,000.00 from the original $154.00 that Bordam gave him it looked like Bordam was home free to check out of the country as soon as he gets a plane ticket at the local airport. What Bordam didn't quite realize is that his meal ticket out of the country Georgie is a degenerate gambles! And as long as he has money or can get it, from an unsuspecting Bordam, he'll gamble it until he's busted. And even worse Georgie doesn't care a lick, in him living by the moment, if he'll end up dead in doing it!

***SPOILERS*** Interesting slice of life "Naked City" episode about the evils of gambling and how it drives people to do things that in the end can put them six feet under. Georgie who's long suffering girlfriend Sara, Lois Nettleton, tried for years to cure him from his gambling addiction and got nowhere was finally cured by putting his life on the line,or pass line,as a last thrill! That in him seeing if Bordam who's money he stole and was gambling with would decide to kill or not kill him for him blowing it. It was a long shot but in the end it worked for Georgie. And as for Bordam he now realized that the only way for him to keep from getting shot, by the oncoming police, was give himself up and face the music. That in him knowing that the game of survival from justice was over for him with him being the big loser in it.
