IMDbTV Pick: Showtime's "Penny Dreadful"

The subtle trick Showtime's "Penny Dreadful is that it is far less about the blood, gore and the specter of gruesome death than the sharp pain and exhilarating pleasure of living, and the terror of feeling alone even in close company. Read our review in the May Picks section.

Det. Kirkendall's son witnesses the stabbing murder of a convenience store clerk. Medavoy and Martinez investigate the murder of a homeless man who has been bludgeoned to death on his head by a 2 x 4. They end up bringing a familiar face back to the precinct however he ends up not being the perp they are looking for... Worried now that they have to go back to the slums and interview all those homeless people again... They are about to leave the precinct and all of a sudden a homeless man walks into the precinct and they see he has blood on his jacket however we can see he is not all there, this particular perp can hear voices from outer space could he be the perp who killed the other homeless man? Since they did not want Kirkendall's son to testify, Sorenson and Russell have to get the perp to admit to the crime and with Sorenson's techniques in interrogation skills he just might get the perp to give it up. Medavoy, Martinez, Sorenson and Russell go to a bar at the end of the shift ... Written by clinton-31

Did You Know?

When Sorenson calls Diane, he gets her answering machine. When he hangs up, he takes his coin from the phone slot and puts it in his back pocket. Only unanswered calls result in getting your coin back. When someone answers the phone or an answering machine/voice-mail picks up, the line has made a connection, so he would not have gotten his money back. See more »
