Trivia

For its first several seasons, the show would undertake three or four trips a year to film on location in New York City, combining pickup/overview shots with specific scenes for particular episodes. But the combination of the huge costs and time involved (a brief scene for a Season 5 episode set on the Manhattan riverline took several hours to film) and the show's understandable ratings decline over the years led to ABC first making such trips less common and then, in the last few years of the show, not having any of them at all. Every scene from the last two seasons (11 and 12) was entirely filmed on sets in Los Angeles. See more »

Goofs

Because of a post-production error on all season 12 episodes, Bill Brochtrup's image appears in the opening credits but not his name at the bottom of the screen in the syndicated/cable version, which, as of 2016, aired in the US on the Audience Network. The original version, which aired on ABC (U.S.) and the Shout Factory DVD release, correctly shows Bill Brochtrup's name and image in the opening credits.

In the most recent broadcast on Audience (late September/early October, 2017), the error in the opening credits was corrected. See more »
