Beachside Toxic Spill
hellraiser712 October 2020
This episode is another favorite episode and I also feel a slightly under the radar episode. This film you can say predates the 80's movie "Humanoids of the Deep" as this film's premise is a bit similar. Only that film was good this film is just a toxic spill.

Really like the riffs in the film, some of them are memorable and the best in my book. From the monsters whom are pretty bad, the costumes on them look like the kind you would see from someone doing an amateur film production or a middle school or high school play; actually I take that back as both amateur films and play productions look a lot better then this film. One odd design choice are the mouths which I guess are suppose to be mandibles but they look like hot dogs.

Three of my favorite riff scenes are one where there are these two drunk guys whom you already know are going to get nailed as they've both broken rule number two according to the film "Scream" you can never drink or do drugs. Really like each and every riff the crew says which just make me chuckle, two from Crow like the moment both drunks drive and crash into each other's cars and one thing Crow says about Otis from "The Andy Griffith Show" yeah I agree Otis is a respectable citizen compared to those two.

A second is when there is this montage scene which feels like an editing mistake as the killing continues just after the good guys find the weapon to kill them, which is why this makes no sense. But anyway what the crew says as the montage which is just a bit long, really cracks me up like when those news clippings show up or the stock footage reused in the montage just to contribute to it's length or save money.

Third is throughout the last half of the film when the crew constantly mentions sodium even I'm yelling with them; seriously how hard is it to get or order more of it, or even make it as they have a chem lab after all along.

The host segments are fun like that one with Tom Servo being a paperboy and offering up news that really travels fast. But the highlight and one of my favorite MST3K songs is the song "Sodium" it's just hilarious as it's done in a retro 50's rock style but also just how enjoyable it is due to how stupidly simple and catchy it truly is.

Nothing left to say except always remember Sodium.
