When DI Annie Guthrie is stabbed to death in an alleyway, Murphy cancels his holiday to work on the case. She was working undercover in the investigation of three murders of homeless women. Murphy in turn poses as homeless man to find what the press is calling the return of Jack the Ripper. He takes up residence in a homeless shelter and befriends a teen-aged refugee who may have witnessed one of the killings. He also has his eye on the shelter's resident counselor and religious advisor the Reverend William Norris. Written by garykmcd

garbage can
7 May 2016 | by (Victoria, BC. Canada) – See all my reviews

Every character is revolting, rude, dirty, drug-addicted or cruel. It is hard to whip up any sympathy for anyone. If you ran into any of these characters, you would be squirming to get away.

The lead character speaks in an almost incomprehensible dialect. I can only understand about 25% of what he says. It is just annoying.

This is like rubbing your face into a garbage can.

People die like flies and you do not care. It is a very bleak view of the world.

There are lots of scenes of desperate drug taking, sleazy prostitutes and people on the edge of society.
