Jessica attends the funeral of an old friend in New Orleans, that of famed blues musician John 'Daddy' Coop. Jessica is drawn into a murder when she and Daddy Coop's widow Melinda find the body of Jack Lee Johnson, one of Daddy's close friends. When Melinda starts receiving threatening phone calls, Jessica decides to investigate despite the objections of Melinda's son, NOPD Det. John Coop Jr. Jessica determines that it's all somehow tied to the death 20 years ago of Luna Santee, Daddy's mistress. John Jr. always believed his father was responsible for her death but a painting of Luna is the clue that sends Jessica in the direction of the killer.
