  • Jessica Fletcher is in Sonoma Valley to attend the funeral of Paul Grimaldi, son of her good friend Anna Grimaldi. Paul had been shot in the parking lot of a jewelry store and his fiancée Michelle, who the family had never met, has since vanished. The Grimaldi family own a winery but it's not in good financial shape with a second mortgage coming due in a few weeks. The winery is coveted by another vintner, Lars Anderson, but the Grimaldi children, Pete and Alicia, want to keep it if they can. When Michelle arrives unexpectedly, Anna's dreams have been answered but she tells them she and Paul were married an hour before he was killed. When Lars Anderson is found murdered in the Grimaldi's wine cellar, everyone is a suspect. When the Sheriff arrests Pete Grimaldi for the crime, Jessica is convinced there has to be a connection between the two murderers.

Jessica attends the funeral, just before grape harvest in the Sonoma estate, as does Paul's fiancée Michelle, who married him just in time without the family.
