Mork: Dear Superman, I am writing you this letter because I'm really perturbed. How can you call yourself a Man of Steel if you wear blue tights with the underwear on the outside? Everyone knows that Krypton is the Miami Beach of the Universe. You're a jive-turkey in red booties! Love, your friend, Mork from Ork. P.S. Don't you sweat a lot, wearing two suits?

Tom Poston debuts as downstairs neighbor Mr. Bickley
"Mork the Tolerant" introduced the one new character that would be retained for the next two seasons, the wonderful Tom Poston as grouchy downstairs neighbor Franklin Delano Bickley, advocating for peace and quiet by pounding on his ceiling enough to drive Mindy bonkers. Mork pleas for tolerance but must take the initiative himself. Bickley works at home illustrating and designing greeting cards, a lucrative gold mine: "every simple minded idiot whose mother has a birthday can't think what to blow his last 60 cents on, thanks to me he can now send a simple, stupid, sappy card filled with phony sentiment!" Mork likes his cartoons of 'pretty bunnies': "a hunter I know lets me draw his rabbits before he skins 'em!" (as much as he despises his work, he seemingly breaks down every time Mork reads one of his cards). Mork also dismisses an angry customer at the music store, killing with kindness: "have your service call my service and be here now, if not, get there later!" Mindy isn't too thrilled to have Bickley a guest for dinner, but it does give them a chance to learn a thing or two about tolerance (Mork's dinner leaves them hungry). Bickley reveals how much he envies the fact that Mork and Mindy have each other while he's alone down below: "I'm beginning to sound like one of my own greeting cards!" Mork solves his problem by getting the bilious one a present, a puppy saved from 'animal jail': "he was in for assaulting a fire hydrant!" He promptly names the pup Bickey: "that's the nicest thing anybody ever did for me, buying me a stupid dog!"
