Jonathan Winters as Mindy's Uncle Dave
17 October 2016 | by (Youngstown,Ohio) – See all my reviews

"Mork and the Family Reunion" casts Jonathan Winters as Fred's older brother, making him Mindy's Uncle Dave, giving Robin Williams a chance to work opposite one of his favorite idols. Fred hasn't seen his brother and his wife Caroline (Beverly Sanders) for 7 years, the two not exactly close, and with Mork celebrating backwards day it's more stressful than usual. Dave appreciates kisses from his niece, and still calls Fred 'Junior,' beating him at arm wrestling while answering the phone at the same time. Unfortunately, Mindy has a bite of Mork's Orkan delight 'fleck,' performing gymnastics at the drop of a hat during the unusual evening. When Dave figures that Mork's the only normal one there, he too gets a taste of 'fleck,' allowing Winters free reign to improvise his own brand of madness, explaining why Dave's superior attitude hides his jealousy toward his younger brother. Nice to see Pam Dawber hold her own with such zany competition, a woman of hidden talents! Jonathan Winters would be back the next season, though in an entirely different role.
