Our first look at Mork's attic pad
kevinolzak19 October 2016
"A Mommy for Morky" opens with Mindy seeing another old beau, Dan Phillips (Barry Van Dyke), who had proposed marriage to her before. At the music store Mork meets her friend Sally Friedman (Susan Lawrence), extremely pregnant (Mork: "kids get into the darnedest places!"). Sally looks forward to a career of watching her child grow up and playing a stay-at-home parent, and Mindy envies that because she's not sure what she wants. Mork gives her a tour of his attic pad, where she finds an Orkan age machine that can make any Orkan whatever age they desire. Mork envies Sally's baby because it will have something he never did, a mother, and through his machine he is able to regress into a child for ten minutes, while Mindy learns how difficult it is to be a mother. The baby Mork presents Robin Williams at his most endearing, particularly after he sees that Mindy has gone and he begins crying for Mommy. With Dan more interested in starting a family rather than a couple, she turns down his latest marriage proposal, toasting parenthood with Mork, who knows what a terrific mother she'll make. Susan Lawrence would return as Sally in "Yes Sir, That's My Baby," while this was it for Barry Van Dyke, son of comic actor Dick Van Dyke.
