What a rip...
16 July 2015 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

TAPS is an open rip-off of the Robert Bloch short story FROZEN FEAR, which was adapted so memorably by Amicus for their anthology film ASYLUM back in 1972. Given that this TV series MONSTERS adapted other Bloch stories for various episodes, I have no idea why they just didn't do a straight adaptation instead of hiring a couple of writers to rip it off.

One reason might be budget costs: in this story, the protagonist is menaced by the severed leg of their spouse, rather than lots of different body parts. In any case, this episode is filled with weak humour and poor effects, a far cry from the class act that was ASYLUM. For anybody who likes the story in any way, I'd recommend that they watch that far superior effort.
