- Davy meets his double, the shy Prince Ludlow of Peruvia, and soon learns that the vertically-challenged Highness must marry before his 18th birthday in order to ascend to the Peruvian throne. The other three Monkees convince Davy to swap places with the Prince and woo young socialite Wendy Forsythe in his stead. However, the evil Count Myron has his eye on the throne as well.—The TV Archaeologist
- While applying for a gig, Davy meets Prince Ludlow, who happens to be Davy's exact double. The prince must be married by his 18th birthday or else he cannot become king of his small country. Unfortunately, the prince is very shy around women. While on vacation some time ago, Ludlow met an American girl named Wendy. She shows up to have an audience with him, and Ludlow convinces Davy to pretend he is him in order to woo her.
Neither The Monkees or Ludlow are aware that Count Myron intends that the prince never ascend the thrown as king. Myron is sure that Ludlow's shyness with women will cause Myron to become king instead. Myron is alarmed when he sees Ludlow charming Wendy, not aware that Davy is impersonating the prince.
Mike stays with Davy at the royal headquarters, while Peter and Micky take Ludlow back to the apartment. Peter and Micky enlist some of their gal pals to help the prince be more smooth with the ladies, but it looks hopeless.
Meanwhile, Davy calls Wendy in to propose to her, and she accepts. Davy orders Count Myron to immediately set up preparations for a wedding. Unfortunately, Myron figures out that Davy is impersonating the prince, after hearing a conversation between him and Mike. Myron has Micky, Peter and Ludlow captured and locked up. He orders Davy and Mike to leave the royal headquarters, and promises harm to the others if they say anything.
The wedding ceremony begins, and Count Myron makes an annoucement that Prince Ludlow was suddenly called away on royal business. Micky, Peter and Ludlow have managed to break out of their cell, and they rush into the ceremony. Ludlow says he'll marry Wendy and rushes to the altar, while the guys hold off Myron and his henchmen. The guys subdue Myron and his cohorts, just as Ludlow and Wendy are pronounced man and wife. Ludlow orders Count Myron and his cohorts to be arrested.
Later, back at the apartment, the guys notice that Davy is disconsolate and accurately guess that he truly liked Wendy, but Davy won't admit to it. Peter, Mike and Micky leave Davy to his thoughts, and as he looks out at the ocean a young woman arrives who looks exactly like Wendy. She introduces herself to him as a teen magazine reporter who'd like to do an interview. Davy invites her inside the apartment; both seem to recognize each other, so they kiss instead.
