Sherri Alberoni needs a chaperone
14 December 2013 | by (Youngstown,Ohio) – See all my reviews

"The Chaperone" features a rare adult appearance from former child actress Sherri Alberoni, a lovely blonde at age 20, whose father (Arch Johnson), a former general, runs his home like an army base, refusing to allow his daughter to attend The Monkees' party without a proper chaperone present. The group hires the cleaning woman (Diana Chesney) to essay the part, but after passing out from too much drinking, Micky dons a dress and wig to play chaperone. To his dismay, the general takes a liking to the new Micky, as does Monkees landlord Babbit (Henry Corden, the third of his five appearances). We first hear Boyce and Hart's "This Just Doesn't Seem to Be My Day," then Goffin and King's "Take a Giant Step" (both previously featured in "Royal Flush"), concluding with a Michael Nesmith original, "You Just May Be the One" (recorded July 18, rerecorded by the whole band for HEADQUARTERS, issued May 22 1967). The 9th broadcast (Nov 7 1966), "The Chaperone" was 8th in production, filmed July 18-22.
