Great Location Shots...and Brooke Bundy!
I've not yet seen every episode of this show, but this one is not a standout. Usually the ones that depict the seedier aspects of L. A. are great - here it's drug dealing --but the most interesting thing about this one are the long scenes that take place at the Santa Monica pier. Fun to see all the early '70s extras and locations.
Brooke Bundy's character spends about five minutes walking around and giving out her new phone number to all her old druggie customers. I've seen her in countless shows and she always gives an honest performance. Pete does rescue her on the pier by doing a flying leap and taking down three hoods all by himself while Linc and Julie just stand there watching. Later, we see Linc cruising the pier for another five minutes - looking to "score".
Cameron Mitchell is in this too, but he is boring. He plays his standard sweaty criminal-on-the-lam role who becomes increasingly deranged. He does send Julie flying across her apartment by delivering a nasty sucker punch, though, so there's that.
I didn't know this til after I watched it, but Jan Brady's real-life sister plays a drug addict who taunts Mitchell and makes him call her "Miss" and say "please". They could have spiced this up by putting some implied S and M in here. It was supposed to be the liberated '70s after all!
