Tony Giorgio, who occasionally played small parts in the show (he appears as the Palace Foyer Guard in this episode - the fellow who almost makes Willy (Peter Lupus) open the crate holding Barney (Greg Morris), and who later tries to shoot the falcon) - was also a skilled magician. He taught Leonard Nimoy the conjuring tricks, such as making a golden egg and coins appears, that Nimoy performs in this episode in his guise as "Zastro the Magician".
The name of Paris' cover identity, "Zastro", is a play on "Sarastro", the magician-king of Mozart's opera "The Magic Flute".
The vast (blue and gold) room, as part of the Palace set, would continue to be used for the majority of the remainder of season 4.
A blatant bit of artistic license is taken when Willie is tasked with delaying the priest who is on his way to the palace to officiate at the wedding. When the device he sets punctures a tire of the priest's vehicle, he appears at the scene to offer help in changing the tire. After he changes the tire and lowers it to the ground, the spare tire immediately goes flat. It is not shown if Willie somehow tampered with it surreptitiously.
The first "Mission:Impossible" episode of the series to be broadcast in the 1970s, and the first part of the series run's first ever 3 part story, additionally, making this overall 2 hour 15 minute movie length story equivalent of a duration that would match the later (Tom Cruise led) feature films.
